Meta, the global tech conglomerate led by Mark Zuckerberg, has announced the appointment of Arun Srinivas as the new Managing Director and Head of Meta India, effective July 1, 2025. The move comes at a time when India stands as Meta’s largest user market globally, spanning over a billion users across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

This leadership transition follows the elevation of Sandhya Devanathan, Meta’s current India head, to a broader role as Vice President for India and Southeast Asia. Srinivas will now report directly to Devanathan and take charge of integrating Meta’s business, innovation, and revenue functions in India.

🔍 Leadership with a Proven Track Record

Arun Srinivas has been with Meta since 2020, initially joining as Head of the Global Business Group in India. He later went on to lead Meta’s Ads Business in India from 2022, where he played a pivotal role in scaling strategic partnerships and growing Meta’s advertising revenue.

In his new role, Srinivas will:

  • Lead Meta India’s business operations
  • Drive revenue and innovation
  • Strengthen partnerships with top brands, developers, and advertisers
  • Oversee AI, WhatsApp for Business, and Reels growth initiatives

“Meta in India is leading the way in AI adoption, WhatsApp, and Reels,” said Sandhya Devanathan. “Arun’s impressive track record in building high-performing teams and driving product innovation makes him the ideal leader to scale Meta’s footprint in India.”

🌐 A Veteran Across Consumer & Tech Sectors

With nearly 30 years of leadership experience, Srinivas brings a wealth of cross-sectoral insights. Prior to Meta, he held leadership roles at:

  • Ola
  • Reebok
  • Hindustan Unilever
  • WestBridge Capital

An alumnus of IIM Calcutta, Srinivas is known for his ability to navigate complex markets and drive digital transformation at scale.

📈 Meta’s Strong Financial Performance in India

India continues to be a strategic growth engine for Meta. In FY24, Meta India reported:

  • Net profit of ₹504.93 crore, up 43% YoY
  • Operational revenue of ₹3,034.8 crore, up 9.3% YoY
  • Gross ad revenue of ₹22,730.7 crore, up from ₹18,308 crore in FY23

India is also one of the largest markets for Meta AI adoption and developer engagement on its open-source Llama language models.

🚀 What’s Next for Meta India?

Under Srinivas’ leadership, Meta is expected to:

  • Deepen AI integration across its platforms
  • Expand Reels monetization for creators and businesses
  • Scale WhatsApp Business adoption among enterprises and SMBs
  • Strengthen relationships across India’s booming digital advertising ecosystem
