Lululemon Joins Forces with Tata CLiQ to Launch in India

Mumbai, July 17, 2025 — Canadian athleisure giant Lululemon Athletica has announced its official India debut through a strategic partnership with Tata CLiQ. The collaboration will include a flagship retail store and a dedicated e-commerce presence on Tata CLiQ’s Luxury and Fashion platforms, both set to launch in H2 2026.

Tapping into India’s Fitness & Wellness Surge

Lululemon, famous as the brand behind premium yoga pants, plans to leverage India’s booming fitness and wellness market. The partnership isn’t just about selling products—it’s about building community. Expect localized events, workshops, and experiences aimed at connecting with India’s growing health-conscious audience.

Tech-Driven Indian Launch

This move builds on Lululemon’s existing tech investment in India—its Bengaluru tech hub, opened in 2021, focuses on data science, machine learning, and cloud engineering to support global growth.

What This Means for the Indian Market

India’s premium athleisure segment is projected to reach $13 billion by 2028, propelled by rising incomes and a fitness-first mindset. Lululemon will compete with global players like Nike and Adidas, as well as rising domestic labels in performance and lifestyle wear.

Local analysts believe the brand’s success will hinge on smart pricing, product adaptation to Indian climates, and seamless integration of online and offline channels .

A Wake-Up Call for Desi Brands

As Lululemon enters its birthplace—yoga—questions emerge: Why hasn’t India produced its own global yoga wear brand? This launch may inspire the creation of authentic, desi alternatives rooted in India’s heritage.
