Bhavish Aggarwal’s Krutrim Acquires BharatSahAIyak to Strengthen AI Deployment in Public Sector

Krutrim, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led AI startup, has acquired BharatSahAIyak, a firm specializing in public-sector AI implementations, from technology consulting firm Samagra. While financial terms remain undisclosed, the deal is strategically positioned to bolster Krutrim’s presence in government-led AI deployments.

🧠 What Does BharatSahAIyak Do?

BharatSahAIyak has been focused on leveraging AI for governance, education, and public health. It has built tools and systems aimed at enhancing service delivery in partnership with various government agencies across India.

🔍 Why This Acquisition Matters

This move gives Krutrim an on-ground execution engine for deploying its AI stack into critical public-sector domains. With BharatSahAIyak’s expertise, Krutrim will now be better positioned to pilot and scale AI-driven solutions in Bharat-focused contexts — where language, infrastructure, and access differ vastly from urban India.

“This integration enhances our ability to build AI that is inclusive, intuitive, and deeply rooted in the lived realities of India,” said a Krutrim spokesperson. “We remain committed to making ‘AI for all’ a reality.”

🚀 Krutrim’s Bigger Vision: AI Made in India, for India

Founded in 2023, Krutrim is building a full-stack AI ecosystem — spanning language models, speech recognition, and computer vision — trained natively on Indian datasets. Some of its recent milestones:

  • Launched Krutrim AI Lab and BharatBench, an open-source initiative to democratize Indian AI research
  • Planning to scale data center capacity to 1 GW by 2028
  • Committed up to $1.2 billion in AI infrastructure investment
  • Raised $75 million, becoming a unicorn in January 2024

⚠️ Leadership Exits in Parallel

This acquisition comes amid reported leadership exits at Krutrim. According to an ET report, three senior executives recently stepped down:

  • John Williamson, Senior Director
  • Dinesh Mittal, Head of Engineering
  • Sharath Adavanne, Director of Applied AI

While Krutrim has yet to officially comment on the leadership churn, the BharatSahAIyak acquisition appears to be part of a renewed execution strategy.

🔮 What’s Next?

With the public sector expected to become a major AI growth frontier in India, Krutrim is positioning itself as a national AI champion. The acquisition of BharatSahAIyak cements its commitment to AI-led governance transformation, and reinforces its “India-first” technology strategy — especially at a time when digital infrastructure and policy innovation are national priorities.
