Bengaluru, July , 2025 — AI research startup Gibran has secured $2.6 million in seed funding led by Together Fund to develop a new class of adaptive, nature-inspired AI systems. The Bengaluru-based company aims to move beyond traditional automation by creating AI that enhances human creativity and decision-making.
Founded by Govind Balakrishnan, Srikant Chakravarti, Suzanne Sadedin, and Edgar Duéñez-Guzmán, Gibran draws inspiration from evolutionary biology and complex adaptive systems. Their goal is to develop AI that evolves alongside humans, fostering collaboration rather than replacement.
“AI shouldn’t replace people; it should expand how they think, create, and decide,” said Balakrishnan.
The team’s research focuses on building systems that adapt and grow with user needs, emphasizing creativity, autonomy, and ethical alignment over brute-force scale. By integrating large language models with nature-inspired approaches, Gibran aims to create AI that operates in non-linear, open-ended ways.
The funding will support initial research and development efforts, with results expected by December 2025. Gibran’s approach positions it as a pioneer in developing AI systems that are not only intelligent but also intuitive and aligned with human values.
