The vision behind Startup Bihar Kraanti
- Launched in partnership between Bihar’s Department of Industries, Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP) and YourStory Media, the initiative aims to support 10,000 startups across 38 districts.
Inclusivity at its core
- Seeks to support founders from rural areas, students, farmers, women, artisans—and not just metro-based founders with polished pitch decks.
- As Shradha Sharma, Founder of YourStory, explains: those with raw ideas “don’t need handouts, they need visibility, support, and a seat at the table”.
Grassroots mobilisation through Startup Yatra & Idea Festival
- A 38-district Startup Bus Yatra aims to collect over 100,000 raw business ideas from students, artisans, women entrepreneurs and micro-ventures.
- The Bihar Idea Festival will gather 10,000 startup proposals over 30–45 days, with funding earmarked for the most promising.
A powerful collaborative model
- Public, private, and academic stakeholders (CIMP-BIIF, District Industries Centres, MSME offices, e‑cells) are working in tandem.
- CIMP will provide technical and incubation support, while YourStory amplifies chosen startups through storytelling and networking.
Rooted in Bihar’s potential
- Though Bihar has made strides in agriculture and infrastructure, startup activity remains urban-centred; this initiative aims to democratize access.
- CIMP director Dr. Rana Singh notes the mission prioritizes not only unicorns, but also viable and resilient businesses.
Empowering women entrepreneurs
- Specific support is opened to women-led startups, ensuring gender inclusivity and formal economic participation for female founders .
Changing Bihar’s narrative through innovation
- Startup Bihar Kraanti seeks to rewrite the state’s image by showcasing its intellectual richness and entrepreneurial talent on a national stage .
- With policy support, institutional backing, and national media amplification, Bihar aims to become a blueprint for decentralised startup ecosystems .
