Samsung Launches DigiArivu to Boost STEM Learning in Tamil Nadu

Samsung India, in partnership with the United Nations Global Compact Network India (UN GCNI), has launched DigiArivu – Empowering Students Through Tech, a large-scale education initiative aimed at transforming STEM and digital learning in government schools across Tamil Nadu. The programme will benefit more than 3,000 students across 10 government schools in Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts.

A Community-Centric Model to Upgrade School Infrastructure

Through DigiArivu, Samsung will upgrade school infrastructure, enhance digital access and introduce hands-on STEM learning modules. The initiative includes Building as Learning Aid (BaLA) designs, installation of digital learning equipment and structured activity-based STEM sessions for school children. The programme also focuses heavily on teacher capacity-building through training workshops and teaching-support tools.

Samsung will additionally set up libraries with Tamil, English and competitive-exam books, provide sports kits, launch a speaker series with education experts and conduct health awareness camps. Class 12 students will receive dedicated career guidance, ensuring holistic development beyond classroom technology adoption.

Built on Insights from Schools and Local Communities

The programme design is based on UN GCNI’s on-ground research with government schools and inputs from Samsung employees at the Sriperumbudur manufacturing plant, ensuring interventions match real learning gaps. DigiArivu aims to strengthen learning ecosystems in tier-2 and tier-3 regions, where digital and STEM enablement often lags urban centres.

Part of Samsung’s Broader Skilling and Education Commitment

SH Yoon, President of Samsung’s Chennai plant, said DigiArivu reflects the company’s vision of “Powering Digital India” by expanding opportunity for young learners. UN GCNI Executive Director Ratnesh Jha called the initiative an embodiment of SDG-focused collaboration.

Alongside DigiArivu, Samsung continues to run its Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) programme in Tamil Nadu, training 5,000 students this year in high-demand domains including AI, IoT, Big Data and Coding.

Final Take

By blending infrastructure upgrades, teacher support and hands-on STEM learning, Samsung’s DigiArivu marks a significant step toward bridging digital education gaps in Tamil Nadu’s government schools.
