Mumbai, July 15, 2025 — Tesla has officially entered the Indian market, opening its first showroom at Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex and launching the Model Y electric SUV, priced between ₹59.89 lakh and ₹67.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Model Y will be available in two variants — Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive — with on-road prices peaking at ₹69.15 lakh. Bookings have started with a non-refundable deposit of ₹22,000, and deliveries are expected to begin in Q3 2025.
Tesla also plans to deploy its V4 Superchargers ahead of deliveries. The first phase will launch four Supercharger stations in Delhi (16 chargers in total), alongside 16 destination chargers across malls and public hubs nationwide.
This launch aligns with India’s revised EV policy offering reduced import duties and incentives for global manufacturers. While Tesla’s focus remains on premium buyers for now, the move is viewed as a strategic step toward market testing — and possibly future local manufacturing.
The Model Y will compete in India’s high-end EV segment against BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VinFast, and BYD.
